BOP - Dollie & Paul (c) Maya de Almeida Araujo

Following the successful sold-out inaugural convention in Spring 2023, Jazz Arts ReWIRED returns to The Place, London, in September. This convention – the first of its kind in the UK – is presented by BOP Jazz Theatre, Britain’s leading Jazz Theatre Company, directed by Dollie Henry MBE and Paul Jenkins.

Featuring performances, masterclasses, and a panel discussion across two days, Jazz Arts ReWIRED showcases the diversity of UK jazz while championing established and emerging artists contributing to the art form.

Dollie Henry MBE and Paul Jenkins, Artistic Directors of BOP Jazz Theatre, said: At BOP, we believe in the boundless transformative power of jazz, and Jazz Arts ReWIRED invites everyone to experience the creative synergy of movement and music through a carefully curated programme of workshops and performances. We look forward to welcoming audiences to The Place to celebrate this artform together”.

The programme opens with a full day of masterclasses on Saturday, 13 September, exploring a wide range of Jazz Styles such as creative jazz, afro groove, creative jazz theatre repertoire, musical theatre jazz, and authentic lindy hop. The day also brings together industry experts for a panel discussion, ‘Let’s Talk Jazz,’ reflecting on the evolution, evaluation, and ecology of the Jazz Arts scene in the UK.

On Saturday, 20 September, audiences can experience an evening of performances by acclaimed artists, including BOP Jazz Theatre Company, Griots Dance Collective, Footnotes Dance Group, Lukas Hunt Creations, and The Ovonlen-Jones Ensemble. The line-up also sees the return of the Emerging Jazz Artist Performance Platform, offering five emerging choreographers the opportunity to present their work.
