The House of Mugler has long enjoyed a profound link with the performing arts, intimately entwined with entertainment and larger-than-life performances. Mugler’s unique connection to this universe has made it a beloved brand among boundary-pushing artists, from the legendary James Brown, Diana Ross, David Bowie and George Michael to icons of today such as Dua Lipa, Black Pink, Bad Bunny and Beyoncé.
Mugler seeks to empower all to unleash power through extraordinary and limitless metamorphosis. As a true cultural force, Mugler champions the empowerment of people and inclusivity, continually redefining its avant-garde legacy.
Mugler has announced its first social program, providing scholarships to promising music and dance students in financial need. Embracing a heritage in the performing arts, Mugler recognizes the growing need to support performing arts education, making higher education more accessible.
Introducing the Mugler Creators Program, a visionary initiative selecting 16 promising young talents in financial need in the fields of contemporary music and dance. The program offers scholarships opportunities, ensuring selected students receive resources to fuel their career trajectory to stratospheric heights.
These future stars are nurtured through unparalleled support, provided by the Mugler House in partnership with contemporary music and dance schools, and charities. Beginning in 2024, the program will donate 175,000€ to participating institutions in the United States and the United Kingdom, with plans to expand globally in future years.
In the United Kingdom, the Mugler Creators Program partners with Trinity Laban, renowned for its programs in contemporary music, dance and singing, and with the national support organization for dance One Dance UK. Together, they selected the recipients for the United Kingdom. In the United States, the program partners with Purchase College and the Purchase College Foundation, a public liberal arts college with outstanding conservatories, including the acclaimed Conservatory of Dance. The scholarship recipients were nominated by faculty members in conjunction with the Dance Board of Study.
“For over 50 years, the connection between the world of performance and the House of Mugler has been unbreakable,” says Danièle Lahana-Aidenbaum, Global Brand President Mugler Fashion and Fragrances. “Today, it fills me with pride and joy to offer talented young artists the chance to transform their dreams into reality, inspiring the next generation of performers to reach their full potential with the help of the Mugler Creators Program.”
“The Conservatory of Dance is very grateful to Mugler for this transformative gift,” says Darrah Carr, Director of The Conservatory of Dance at Purchase College, SUNY. “Our talented dancers have immense potential. We’re confident that these generous scholarships will help our dancers focus on their training and will enable them to graduate with less financial strain.”
“We are delighted to partner with Mugler and One Dance UK on the Creators Program, which aligns with our commitment to breaking down barriers to accessing the arts,” adds Professor Anthony Bowne, Principal of Trinity Laban. “We believe that young people from all backgrounds should have the opportunity to pursue their creative ambitions, and we are thrilled that this program will enable these students to study with us, empowering a new generation of musicians and dancers.”
The initiative is accompanied by a captivating film short, featuring talented volunteer students from Purchase College and Trinity Laban, directed by British-Tunisian director Félicity Ben Rejeb Price, renowned for her creative and progressive vision on urban culture and a portfolio that includes collaborations with global icons in the entertainment and fashion industry. The cinematic expression not only celebrates the initiative but celebrates the avant-garde legacy of our would-be future stars, showcasing the transformative power of creativity and empowerment.
The Mugler Creators Program begins at the commencement of the 2024 academic year and will continue to be an integral cultural institution in years to come.
