BalletActive, English National Ballet’s online studio for dance-based workouts, returns in the new year with the Sofa 2 Studio Challenge, inviting participants to move more, feel better and put their best foot forward in 2026.

English National Ballet’s on-demand online studio, BalletActive, provides access to almost 300 classes for whenever and wherever you feel like dancing. From ballet to yoga, and contemporary to fitness, classes are designed to follow along at home or on the move.

From 1 January 2026, English National Ballet opens the Sofa 2 Studio Challenge, a free three-week event offering unlimited access to BalletActive. There are a range of challenges available, each tailored to a different fitness level and designed to deliver the positive impact of dance and exercise on both physical and mental wellbeing. You can join the Sofa 2 Studio Challenge here

There are classes for everyone, from absolute beginners to advanced level, guided by English National Ballet artists and dancers, including First Soloists Julia Conway and Haruhi Otani, First Artist Anna-Babette Winkler, and Artist Taela Graff.

BalletActive’s subscription includes access to a wide variety of classes from ballet, flamenco, contemporary dance, yoga, to Pilates and strength & conditioning, as well as a series of seated classes designed for those with limited mobility. Members can also explore classes inspired by English National Ballet’s repertoire, such as Martha Graham technique and Nutcracker, led by the Company’s Repetiteurs Loipa Araujo, Cynthia Harvey and Erina Takahashi.

BalletActive instructor Kate Hartley-Stevens says,The wonderful thing about doing dance classes at home is that you really can dance like no one is watching! You can adapt exercises to make it work for your body and your space, and you can pause, rewind and recap as much as you like”.

Subscribers echo the positive impact of the platform: This is a wonderful resource. I have enjoyed taking classes in ballet, yoga and conditioning and the insights I have gained from some of the instructors are priceless”. Diana, BalletActive subscriber.

With new classes added regularly, BalletActive always offers something fresh to discover. On completion of the Sofa 2 Studio Challenge, monthly subscriptions are available for £9.99, with annual packages available for £89.91, giving members up to three months free access.
