If you’re a dance teacher with at least three years’ experience aiming to transform how you guide and evaluate dancers in your private or recreational dance school, the Royal Ballet School’s Affiliate Training and Assessment Programme is for you.
The Affiliate Training and Development Programme is The Royal Ballet School’s initiative for private and recreational dance education. Instructors are trained directly by The Royal Ballet School and, once certified, become Affiliate Teachers empowered to apply the programme in their studios. They conduct student assessments, which are later evaluated by The Royal Ballet School.
This groundbreaking programme provides young dancers with a thorough, high-calibre educational experience. It offers an alternative to traditional recreational training systems focused on perfecting a syllabus for examinations.
Affiliate Teachers inspire students to grasp ‘how’ to learn while cultivating a love for the process itself. They gain the autonomy to mentor and assess their students’ development independently, fostering continuous professional growth, innovation, and career satisfaction.
Beyond classical ballet techniques and performance skills, students delve into repertoire, choreography, and artistic understanding.
Affiliate Teachers receive exclusive access to a digital library of over 150 videos, three annual professional development sessions, a supportive online community, enrichment activities and events, plus unique access to Frederick Ashton repertoire.
This year, The Royal Ballet School will host the Affiliate Training and Assessment Programme with one-week in-person courses in London and Hong Kong throughout August.
