Cynthia Harvey becomes Vice President of the British Ballet Organization (BBO), one of the world’s leading dance Awarding Organisations, promoting excellence in dance training and opportunities for all. Harvey will join fellow Vice President, Sir David Bintley CBE, and newly appointed President, Brenda Last OBE.
BBO welcomed Harvey to the team in 2022, as Patron. Since then, Harvey has attended BBO’s largest event, Dance Days, and provided valuable knowledge and inspiration to the organisation and its members.
Harvey joined the American Ballet Theatre (ABT) at 16 years of age in 1974, and was promoted to principal dancer in 1982. She danced virtually every ballerina role for the company, showcasing her versatility and love for the art form. In 1986, she joined The Royal Ballet, becoming the company’s first ever American principal dancer.
Harvey also has extensive teaching experience, teaching at companies such as ABT, The Australian Ballet, La Scala Ballet, Royal Swedish Ballet, and schools such as The Royal Ballet School and English National Ballet School.
The team at BBO feel incredibly lucky to have Harvey as part of the team and are excited to continue working with her as the organisation develops.
